Description

I've been experiencing a wierd performance issue post 1.04 patch, everytime I get near the oceans on both islands or above them in a helo my Frame rate will drastically drop usually from 30 to 5 and it will stutter constantly until I get out of its drawing distance It seems, this is not caused by settings seeing how im only running on High/medium with 100% 3D resolution and No Mods are conflicting since I've tested them out.

Like I said Im pretty sure this was caused by the latest 1.04 patch, please address this issue.

Thank you.

Hmmm... Still getting the issue had just got done patching up to 1.05 official, still getting abysmal framerates no matter what settings.

Clearly not resolved.

Specs:

OS: Vista 64bit Service Pack 2
GPU: Ati 3650 Radeon HD using Very HIGH Video memory in-game options (using 9.9 Catalyst drivers most updated drivers).
CPU: AMD Phenom x64 2.6ghz
RAM: 8GB DDR3
HDD: 750 GB 7200RPM
I have currently no mods installed since I was getting instant CTD's with them on, and the same settings.
Versions affected: 1.04 and 1.05 officials no beta patches!!

Please help me guys I cannot fully enjoy the game, I cannot think of anything else that could lead to this.

Can we please get a demo mission where you see this happen for 1.05. Ty

All I do is go into editor put a helo in on the Utes airstrip and fly near the coast and over the water, it doesnt need a specific reproduction because I get it wherever there's water.

Also I can notice it when watching the video at the main menu for Utes, where its viewing the Khe Sahn, my frame rate will be 8 for one part till its looking at one side the the carrier then it will jump right back up to 28+ FPS.

This problem seems like its only affecting me now, which is wierd, all I do is get near water in editor/or campaign and the problem occurs.

Thanks for your quick reply Kju still using your awesome mods too with 1.05 draw distance and low-vegetation :)

Well the problem is Futuristic WarMachine that, for now,
you are the only to experience that again.

So we need as much information as possible and as precise repro
steps.

So please review your initial report here if anything changed (hardware/drivers),
and please attach a simple demo mission, and your settings (arma2.cfg, arma2profile).

Here's the CFG and the Profile files.

I reviewed the report and have nothing else to edit.

One thing I didn't mention but don't think has of any relevance is that I get a arma2.cfg_3D performance error everytime I load up Arma 2, the game still works fine but ive been getting since I got 1.03 english official patch.

Hope this is what you need. Once again thanks Dev-Heaven.

Erm, actually, first of all, you should terminate ArmA2 then move your ArmA2.cfg to ArmA2.bak and then start ArmA2 again and let it detect your 3D performance from scratch. That solved many issues when I moved my config from one OS to the new one. Only thing you need to re-check then is the 3D resolution, the FSAA (anti-aliasing) and VRAM settings.

@Fireball, Yes I believed this was the issue also, Tried the fix awhile back when I first had the problem and did it again a few days ago the error is gone the config settings are good to go, but the issue remains.

Any other suggestions? Good news, im getting a new GPU soon, switching from ATI to Nvidia 8800 GTX OC edition, so hopefully that will terminate the problem, My only guess is that the GPU is confused when rendering the water or the reflections on the water.

Thanks for continuing support DH!

Well, since you seem to be the last mohican left with this issue and it might be due to HW or driver problems, I think we should close this here, and you might as well open a topic in the troubleshooting section of the BI forums, if continued support is needed.
