Description

Is there something like the all-in-one config (by kju IIRC) for ACE stuff? This would allow "outside" devs to do dev stuff more easily.

Or, is the repository searchable for keywords?

No such critter currently. We're lacking resources to offer this right now.

May I ask what is meant by "rejected"? "Rejected" as in, like EE stated, there's not sufficient resources, so it is being put of until later? "Rejected" temporarily? Or as in, ain't evah gonna happen type "rejected"?

Yeah right. My fault.

You can generate an All in one config all by yourself, so I am unsure why this should be handled by us :)

Is there some magic tool that will only generate one for ACE2? Sure, I can dump the entire config for all of A2 and whatever addons - like ACE2 - but it's your mod. (BTW, that attachment was lost when OFPEC had their Troubles a couple months ago, but I'm pretty sure I have it from when it was released.) :)

But, I gotta believe there is documentation out there of the various systems and frameworks and how they work together. Or not?

ACE touches original classes and creates new ones. So IMO it actually makes sense you make a full config dump.
Documentation is ongoing: http://ace.wikkii.com/wiki and as wiki can be freely extended.

Not sure what your argument is about ACE being our Mod :) If you need a config dump, make one, we won't sue you :)

Ok, that's the course I will take, then.

Edit:
Never mind on the other stuff. Thanks, SB.

Well, mod politics, and anything that meets the public, is a very tricky thing.

There's imo two sides:

One side, we can do better in our information flow, be more clear why something is rejected, maybe more friendly
There's also things in our workflow that we can improve, like the ticket statuses, relationships, blocks, like we are doing now with the Armor system etc.

The other side, which might sound bold, but I see it as cold truth, is that the issue tracker isn't a discussion forum, nor do we have to read/listen to what anyone says.
This is our bug tracker, and we use it in our workflow, and will use it in a way that suits us.
There's 100's of people out there with great ideas, but that doesn't change any of the above.
Beyond that, the general public seems to have shifted to a MUST, DEMAND, TAKE and SPOON-FEED-ME trend, sorry but we're just people too, doing everything in our free/spare time, having ordinary jobs, facing the same problems other people are facing.

The responses that are sometimes made are not because we're bad people, but because we're driven to these levels. There's let's say 10 of us, and 100's if not 1000's of you.
We are building our mod, according to our plan and vision, and are open to ideas and feedback, and especially bug reports.
But this does not however mean that we are slave to the public and are on the votes or democracy system :)

Also, many people seem to forget we are in Development stage, and not in final release yet.
We are working on things, and sorry if that means we're not always up for discussion.
Let us finish 1.00, and move on to the next iteration :)

Also ACE isn't the "Combination of all mods" mod, even though many would like it to be.

We're revisiting our workflow and vision and will document it properly in the next days.

Personally I can't see how any of this has to do with elitism, except that it's maybe an easy tag to put on people :)

Some reference, admittedly written when little heated up: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=1555372#post1555372

Just wanted to add something,
we now seem to be under daily attack by the Russian Empire, claiming we are Americans, or spread American Propaganda, and all kinds of other childish, bullshit.
It is a hit on Morale, and we'll remove such persons without question.

Thank you for your response. You are (obviously) not the problem.

And you are right, this is not a discussion forum, I apologize for treating it as such. But, on a final note with regard to the "elitist" tag, I absolutely stand by it. Without naming names, read through some of the responses as an outsider - or really, some of the items that get little to no response - and perhaps you will get a better idea what I'm talking about.

Thank you for the config dump suggestion. I look forward to creating mods that include ACE features.

Updated by Sickboy about 5 years ago

As said, it is a tricky thing, I think I have a general idea of what you are talking about, and I still stand behind what I wrote.
Basically because you only see 1 side of it, and limited to that specific situation. Not saying there isn't anything we can improve (like I wrote).

My personal advice would be to learn to live with it, or join us for a while and experience it for yourself ;)
One mans Marter is another mans Killer, or what was the saying?

hehe

Thank you (I think) for the back-handed invitation into ACE. :D Alas, my skills and my time are not sufficient to your needs. ;)

I'm getting ready to post in that BIF thread, and support the idea that you guys can control what you create. No issue there from me. I have a long history of supporting people's ability to work on what they want to and distribute it how they want to. While I only see 1 side of the ACE issues, I understand the other side, as I spent many years on that side of it (in a different community).

My issue here is different, and this is unlikely to be the appropriate venue to discuss it. Maybe someday over a beer or three.

Updated by Sickboy about 5 years ago

Three it is :) I would however like to request not to respond to the post at BIF, as it was part of a situation that is resolved in the meantime.
Still, up to you of course :)

SHIT! Already posted. Now edited/deleted.

Here's what I posted, though - formating tweaked from BIF so it is readable here:

It is dictatorial

hehe

SB - you have NO idea how much I can understand and empathize with your statements. :)

Quote by me in a different context, in a different forum, but still the same idea. :D

Don't like it?

Don't come here.

I actually said more, but you get the idea.

"Communty" dev is hard - no question about it.

And with that, you can probably close/reject/remove this ticket once you've read it.

Thanks, and appreciate the support.
Do you have Skype (for text-chat though) ? :)

Updated by Trexian about 5 years ago

Indeed, not often up, and usually invisible/away, but if you shoot me a chat, I'll try to respond. Name = trexian. Just pulled it up. Last I checked, I'm the only trexian, if there's an issue, look for a location of Adak. ;)

Also - just added you. Man, lotsa SickBoys in the world!
