Description

I am running the A.C.E. 2 version Beta 2 .213.

When ever I give a guy an MC-5 Parachute, and I have him jump out of a C-130 or a MH-60, I have no control over his free fall. He flies forward and will either A) Slam into the ground or B) If I do manage to open the parachute, it flails around crazily.

In the video I posted you will see that not only do I not control him, but he will move his arms even though there is no change. Then if I do manage to make him spin, he doesn't fly the direction I point him, rather he drifts to the side he was heading. And then, I open the parachute and I end up at a slightly higher altitude then what I was at.

The jump out replaces the Eject action in vehicles wich dont have ejection seats. Regarding the HALO jump, you can do one with a MC-5 parachute.

The T-10 is the "regular" parachute.

Build 235 the issue still persists.

Also:
1) If im landing in the water, I will be placed as high under water level, as is deep in this place.
2) When Im jumping from mi17 or mi24 from cargo place (tested in MP) I will be stay in the Air after jumping and cant control free fly, only can open parachute.
3) In mi24 (also tested in MP) if two guys are in cargo, one of them havnt eject action, and cant jump halo

We're taking care of the issue.

Just some fun stuff...

Why this obsession about calling it HALO? Bailing out of a heli using a square chute does not make it HALO. HALO is for special forces and HA means High Altitude. We don't use those altitudes (25000-90000 feet) in Arma2, and we don't even have the extra realistic equipment needed to do so (GPS excluded).

Because its what the essential function is. and arent you quite the detailed arse. Easy, for one, no one wants to wait 5 minutes minutes to get from land to ground. Also, in real life the special forces do HALO jump out of MH-60s and MH-64s. Even though its not at 25,000 feet, its still a HALO jump, because its a High Altitude Low Opening jump. If they do it form low altitude its called a LALO.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HALO_jump

It can also be called "Military Free Fall". There is no "Official" altitude, its just typical 25,000 to 90,000 feet in order to avoid radar detection.

In essence its easier to call it HALO rather than call it "Military Free Fall". And HALO is more reconised than MFF. Plus its VERY easy to set up a halo mission in game. Set the plain to flyinheigth 8000 because that equals roughly 26,000 feet, which would then qualify it. But really, ANY jump that is performed at a moderately high altitude and is a free form jump is considered HALO.

I was an Airborne Qualified Designated Marksman for the Army., and pretty much we would consider a halo if you jumped above airborne jumps and with a free fall chute. Because you need to define what HIGH altitude is and what LOW altitude is. Generally a LALO is done at a VERY VERY low altitude, and pretty much all else is a high altitude.

So to break this down... Halo is not defined and easy to use to explain the simple free fall function.

Plus just because this game doesn't have 100% realism featured in HALO doesn't make it not HALO.

Should I stop calling the M1A2 a tank because all of the functions and panels arent there. Should I stop calling the AH-64 a helicopter because all of its functions dont exist in the cockpit?

Dont delve into realism to much... seeing as this is a game after all. Should we also be required to carry oxygen tanks and have to sit inside the plane for 2 hours breathing 100% pure oxygen and have to switch to the oxygen mask while holding our breath? That would ruin the game. Too much realism would make it worthless.

Made some changes so you can control your horizontal speed. HALO should be fixed completely.

As of the new patch from today, there is a new issue of control. While Ic an speed up and slow down, turning and slowing down are still bugged. I got my guy to move at a speed of 80, but then I was not able to slow down. I turn around, all of a sudden he was going -34.
