Description

My Windows account name is "Véna". ARMA 2 displays me as "V na" and I cannot edit my user profile. When I do this, no menu is shown after that and changes are not applied. Name of profile file is "V%e9na.ArmA2Profile". When I finish mission in campaign the next one isn't there.

V_e9na.ArmA2Profile - My user profile file (8.9 kB) vasek7, 11/07/2009 10:52

You mean you try to edit the profile name ingame right?

Updated by vasek7 over 5 years ago

Yes, normally in game. "Profil hráce" > "Upravit" then I edit something and click on "OK". After that no menu is shown. I have to press ESC to show main menu. I have the same error on both Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Basically a dupe of #4054 - but it shows why it's needed, unless they gonna support UTF-8 anytime soon.

As a workaround you can always rename your Windows account.

I renamed my account name to "Vena" and profile file to "Vena.ArmA2Profile", but it is still the same error. Path still contains "é" (C:\Users\Véna\Documents\ArmA 2).

Okay, let's do this. Let's call this a feature request to support UTF-8 in pathnames and player/profile names. Okay?

vasek7, did you try to see if there was any change with patch 1.05?

Updated by vasek7 over 5 years ago

Yes, I did. But behaviour is still still the same. I have to create new user profile (which is stored in "ArmA 2 Other Profiles") and then use this one. It can contain UTF-8 characters. But the original one cannot.

Ty

So the system profile cannot be edit and is not functional - correct?
If you create an extra custom profile, all works fine even with the special characters?

Updated by vasek7 almost 5 years ago

System profile is functional, but cannot be edited (main menu is not shown after change). Extra custom profile is working fine.
