Description

Obs
For the multiplayer client using a searchlight the searchlight turns itself off automatically shortly after turning it on. The non-dedicated server player doesn't ever see the searchlight getting turned on.
The client can however see the server's searchlight perfectly, working like it should.

It seems like the server never recognizes a client turning on a searchlight, and forces the light switched off as soon as it notices it is turned on.

This was tested with two different players hosting.

Repro
  1. Put two players and a searchlight by each other
  2. Have the multiplayer client use the searchlight
  3. and watch.

This is the repro video made using my testbench (still working on it for OA compatibility): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qx-0XQZRLWs

Search the attached 4449.zip for all the files used for this repro.

Relevant .RPT messages seems to be:
MPH (-host)

Server: Update of object 2:46 arrived from nonowner
 Client: Nonnetwork object 1df85000.
 Client: Nonnetwork object 1df87000.

MPC (-connect)

the on/off action should be in-sync when broad-casted over network

Updated by bebul over 3 years ago

The problem is in locality. The searchLight on client is still simulated on server, so the lights are switched off after the first update (from server).
