Description

Keeping the action menu ( if it will still exist like we know it) clean and well arranged should have a high priority, especially since there will be a lot of possibilities to customize your weapon. Seperating the weapon customization from game interactions ( enter vehicle etc) sounds like a very good and logical idea.

You would definitely have my vote for an more interactive system ( partly inspired by Crysis and supported by new features already added in TOH)

It could look something like this:

*et voilà

there you have your uncluttered action menu, neat support for the new core feature of the game and especially your desired attachement :D*

Do you see any problems in this concept? :)

The early videos show-casing the weapon modifications afaik noted that the action menu was only used temporary during development of the system.

Thanks a lot Fireball! :)

@Sickboy
yeah, I think this was even said by a team member on the forums some time ago.
I think seperating actions such as vehicle interactions (engine on,enter etc)from the action menu could be solved via the TOH freelook cursor and interaction points quite effectively.

I look forward to BIS's version and hope they get inspired by these ideas, adapt and/or improve them.

Although an "on the go" option as you presented it would make the action flow faster, I think the best way would be to do all customatization (including personal gear) via the gear menu in order to simulate "time flow". I play ArmA as a game, so it will not bother me if customatization ends up like you presented it, but the realismuh crowd would have something against it for sure :P

I think this system would in fact be more realistic ^^

First of all you have to press a button to upper the weapon and look at it, you see all options and items you have available, choose one and after every change there is the normal "interact" animation. So it takes the exact amount of time as it would have in reality.

You are actually making an active interaction with your rifle. The movement and application flow is just like in reality, and therefore much more closer to real life, thus more appealing to the realism enthusiasts :)

Fair enough :)

hehe
well imagine what it would be like if you had to handle all those modifications [[http://goo.gl/P0KDl]] with the current list-mousewheel system ^^

I personally do not like this feature, but it seems that it will have arma3
that benefit is carrying a weapon without accessories?
all carry the gun with all accessories posts
scopes should break or some penality?
as I said does not convince me, is a waste of resources and time, that could be used in other improvements
play with weapon?Weapon are for shoot

Should be fixed.

Like we see in E3 video, you now change weapon gear with the "G" equipement menu.

  • Tracker changed from Bug to Feature

At any rate, it's a feature ticket.
