this problem seems to return out of nowhere :(

Updated by kju over 3 years ago

The basic question is if it is from text chat or VON (or both).

Essential to have repro steps would be best, but maybe the message alone and the reference to the old problem will help.

Can you please provide report containing this line from a recent version (86478 or nwer), as the line was extended to contain more info?

It seems "direct communication" is broken. There is no text shown for other clients even if nearby.

Repro

  4. Start game
  5. Get close together and use "direct chat" channel

PS: Commander should be seen by whom?

This is hopefully fixed in 86699 (there was another "channel" which looked like a Direct channel, but actually was not).

Updated by kju over 3 years ago

Well the "commander channel" is now gone (and with it the source of the rpt error/warning).

That said are you sure this channel was useless?

Updated by kju over 3 years ago

Moved broken direct chat to #26589.

Updated by Dwarden over 3 years ago

Well i always though the commander channel was for leader to give orders (text, voice) while not receiving from others on that channel

was that deprecated or unneeded feature?

Updated by Suma over 3 years ago

The channel "6" which was removed was never a planned feature, only a side effect of a completely unrelated unfinished feature, which was implemented wrongly. However, I can still see a "command" channel in the game. It is a channel in which all group leaders of a side participate.

Updated by kju over 3 years ago

Yep the removed was named "command*er* channel" and there is also a "command channel".

I thought the commander channel has a relation to high command.
But if it was non functional no matter what anyway, the removal is no loss.
