This ticket concerns vanilla OA functionality removed or broken by ACE.

Originally, we could use the action menu to retrieve RPG ammo from the RPG packs of Takistani ammo bearers, using the action menu. With recent ACE ruck changes, we can no longer use the action menu to open these packs, except when the unit carrying them is dead. Accessing the ruck through the Interact menu gets a LOCKED message. It is impossible to lock a backpack in real life.

I understand that the ruck system is exclusive to units local to the player, but this is a MP limitation that has no business breaking my SP missions. There are any number of situations where you would want ammo carriers to be in a different group.

Another issue is that the RPG packs no longer appear on the backs of the ammo carrier units. This prevents easy visual identification and regresses from vanilla. Perhaps the RPG packs should be carried in the AI's second 'In Hands' slot, rather than invisibly on their backs.

Further observations: If you start a game where an RPG ammo carrier is on the screen, his bag will be visible on his back for a split second. But it will disappear from his back after that, presumably as the ACE ruck system initializes.

I am more for fixing the ACE ruck system than going back to OA rucks. Some thoughts:

1. Packs were moved to the "on back" slot because of this: http://dev-heaven.net/issues/25734
Perhaps a better fix would be to move the secondary weapon there instead of the pack.
2. We need a good repro for the flashing/unavailable gear screen when using the ACE ruck interaction and a ticket.
3. We should make the rucks unlocked by default, just like the OA rucks.

OK, changed it to only move ruck on back if the unit has another secondary weapon.
