Description

Description
An wheeled APC with AI Driver (BTR90 in this Case) is not able to absolve a setted Path on a Street without Issues when another Vehicle is placed near the Road or slightly on it. This results in really ugly driving behavior, especially in Cities.

For better understanding i have made a Picture of the Scenario in the Editor.

Repro
  1. Load and start the attached Mission in Singleplayer Mode
  2. You will be inside the Vehicle as a Passenger.
  3. Switch to 3rd Person for watching the Scene.
  4. Observe how the AI Driver is unable to complete his Route between the last WP and the WP before, and get stuck in the surrounding environment.

Obs
The AI tries to drive around the Buildíng to the right instead driving on the Street between the Bus and the Building.

Exp
APC should drive on the Street between Bus and Building to it´s waypoint.

Problem reproduced in 1.60.86277. This issue has severe gameplay impact and apparently involves only a static, inanimate object that is seen as an obstruction by AI drivers, even though it is not. Would fixing this be easier/faster than fixing AI driving slowdowns caused by animate objects?

The vehicle driving unnecessarily around buildings to avoid the "obstruction" is similar to the AI walking behavior observed when a soldier confronts the static pipes in Khushab (see Khushab_Pipes.Takistan.7z in #25348).

There are three Sceanarios that get into my Mind when i´m thinking about this :

First : The reported Issue here.

Second : A Vehicle stands near beside the Road, which means that the Road itself is free, but you got the same Behaviour as mentioned in the Ticket.

Third : Braking before driving Curves. The AI brakes unnecessary much down the Tempo, even if the Curves are light angeled.

All observed on Chernarus with the Mission "The forgotten few", where you have to be a Passenger in an APC, and the AI is the Driver. First time, i thought it could be a Problem with the Dynamic Waypoint System, but you can reconstruct everything in the Editor with setup Waypoints by yourself.

And if i remember right, AI Driving was better in a few Betas before. It was mentioned in the Changelog, so maybe i could find this one and retest it.

That issue may deserve its own ticket with repro. Perhaps there could be a simple fix for that which would improve game tempo?

Could be, yes. I will try to make a good Repro first. :)
