Description

Obs:
Muzzle flashes/blasts often become stuck on vehicle mounted weapons and static defences. They seem to last forever. I don't remember, but they may be cleared when you fire the weapon next time.

See attached screenshots.

Repro:
1. Play any single mission in which the player can fire a vehicle weapon.
2. Board a vehicle as gunner.
3. Fire weapon.
4. Save the mission progress.
5. Exit Arma2 (ALT+F4)
6. Load Arma2.
7. Resume the mission. the vehicle weapon the player used will have the permanent muzzle flash/flare. Both user saves and quit/resume autosaves are affected.

I have noticed this, but only after loading a save game, and wanted to find out why before reporting it. Can you confirm this is after reloading, or just appears during a played mission?

This is an old issue from ArmA 1 that was never fixed. It happens to some weapons (machine guns, etc.) after reload.

Unfortunately someone thought it would be funny to delete all saved games when you complete the campaign, so I can't give you any.

There are two problems here.

a) This is probably model specific, is it not?
b) For BI only OA/CO matters now. So can someone please verify this with latest CO 1.52 BETA.

Also we have this for single units too.
So if it is not true for all vehicles, this is most likely a generic duplicate.

I have retested this bug in ArmA2OA.exe beta 1.52.72291. It appears to affect all vehicle mounted weapons that have muzzle blasts other than the main cannons of tanks (particle based muzzle blast?). It does not affect soldier's weapons.

For completeness, tested units/vehicles were:
A bunch of different soldiers - none affected
AH-6J [US] - pilot fixed mount MGs
Mi-24D [CDF] - gunner turret mounted MG
AH-64D [US] - gunner turret mounted MG
256M Tunguska [Russia] - gunner turret mounted cannons
BRDM-2 (ATGM) [Takistani Army] - not affected
BMP-2 [Takistani Army] - gunner turret mounted MG
BMP-2 [CDF] - gunner turret mounted MG
M1A2 TUSK [US] - gunner MG but not cannon, commander MG, loader MG
RHIB (Mk19) [USMC] - front MG, but not rear GL
