Description

I've tested with the catalyst 11.8 drivers. The vram value reported in the Arma2 config is localVRAM=2111094784 - textures load slowly and there's bad pop-in.

What settings did you try in video options for video memory?
Very high and default?

Updated by CHELENTANO almost 4 years ago

I try default video memory settings.

Updated by kju almost 4 years ago

Ok thanks. I think default tries to detect it while the other use a predetermine maximum of video memory (VRAM).

Updated by CHELENTANO almost 4 years ago

Changing the setting video options for video memory does not change localVRAM for me.

With 1.59 patch you did not have that issue?

Updated by CHELENTANO almost 4 years ago

With 1.59 patch I have this key problems as well.

Question would be, is AMD or BI to blame?

Updated by CHELENTANO almost 4 years ago

Information about the problem I have sent a support AMD.

I can confirm this issue (ArmA 2 CO UK, Windows 7 64 bit, ATI HD5970, 1 GB per instance). For Catalyst version 10.5 or earlier VRAM is detected correctly (localVRAM=1053515776;), for any newer version of Catalyst 2 GB of VRAM is detected, resulting in graphics artifacts, getting stuck in 'receiving', low quality textures and low performance.

Seems like ticket #16163 is the same or at least related.

the game should detect 1GB of VRAM cause that don't stack in Crossfire

may i ask if You have installed AMD.ATI Crossfire profiles? (i assume yes)

Updated by HitmanFF over 3 years ago

For 10.4 the profiles aren't applicable (still integrated in the driver at that time), but for the newer versions the applicable crossfire profiles indeed were installed.

Updated by CHELENTANO over 3 years ago

Yes, I install AMD.ATI Crossfire profiles.

Any news on the solution of the problem under discussion?

Updated by Dwarden about 3 years ago

it came to my attention there is already solution available via commandline parameter -maxVRAM=

-maxVRAM=<number>
Defines Video Memory allocation limit to number (in MegaBytes). Use to resolve e.g. Windows problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2026022/en-us?p=1

i'm very sorry this non-documented command took so long to publish on BIKI, http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma2:_Startup_Parameters#Performance

CHELENTANO can you please re-test with 1.62 or better latest beta.
Plus latest AMD driver. Thanks!

Updated by CHELENTANO almost 3 years ago

Unfortunately this is not possible. I decided to replace the ATI 5850 on Geforse 580. I could not wait any longer. Thanks!
