With the engineOn command, you cannot turn off an engine. The command only responds when turning on an engine.

_vec engineOn true; //works
_vec engineOn false; //does not work

Tested with various helicopters on 1.59.79384 stable with no mods. Whether you are in or out of the driver seat of the vehicle has no effect.

It's still broken in the latest beta 83015.

Updated by BigDawgKS over 4 years ago

Indeed it seems broken. It would be very nice if this could be fixed: currently there is no practical way to force a vehicle's engine on or off.

Updated by F2kSel over 4 years ago

It seems to be only happening to the chopper now.

Boats,planes and cars seem ok.

Load the mission in editor.

  1. board the car, press W, eject
  2. board the heli, press Q, eject
  3. radio 1, will engineOn false on the car, works
  4. radio 2, will engineOn false on the heli, does not work
  5. radio 3, will action "engineOff" on the heli, works
  • radio 2, engineOn false on the heli, should work

seems like regression

Not a regression. The repro explicitly mentions 1.59.79384 stable.

(I think it was this way for very long time, perhaps even in A2, A or OFP:CWC, but I did not test it)
