Spooner and Sq might be of interest for you too.

Definitely a good idea. Annoying you can't peek into branches. As long as the default is strongly to look at master (so noobs don't get lost).

I didn't realise it at the time, but when you suggested there was a patch, I thought it was a new one. I have been watching this particular thread since the beginning of the year, and I do not feel it is production ready yet. Read the comments, and you will see there are issues with it possibly breaking core functions and affecting other repository types. If we were totally Git it might not be a problem, but I would hate to break SVN repos in the process.

Now I'm becoming more confident with DH-RM on netbeans, I can look a bit deeper into it, but it does go deep and would need expert eyes.

Branch tracking is long overdue in Redmine, and I think Sickboy has been waiting on Grit to fill the need as it will have native ruby calls that can be used. There hasn't been much movement on Grit recently unfortunately.

I'm currently tracking changes to the branch_support branch of Redmine on Github

There has been development over the last few days, and this particular path seems to be the most promising. Will keep you posted on anything significant.
