Description

Currently we have to copy anyones map to see the drawings of which they've drawn each time.
Could this be made so that peoples maps close to someone drawing(<2m) be automatically updated with "understandable" frame rate?
This would make sharing precise plans and moves to other people much easier and fast.

Or maybe make it update in real time only while someone has selected "copy map" action.

Whats wrong with current implementation?

No, not possible. Maybe in 10 years when everybody has 1GB up and downstream and servers too.

Changing it back to new... maybe we can do something.

Thanks for rethinking.
I shall think about some other solutions as well.

The sad thing is its really NOT a lot of bandwidth at all... :P

Something to look into is how ArmA2 sends the data. The more data you can get allocated to be sent in a single frame the less desync you will have (ArmA2 will send as much as it can in a single packet if its all allocated in the shortest amount of time, usually within the reference of a single frame).

Maybe we can batch things and send them via calls in a PFH? I am not sure.

BTW PFH solves everything! :D

Also, what I would like to implement is not having these things be permanent, but so when you move away it deletes all the markers. That way its like you are looking at their map. To make it permanent you'd have to do the traditional copy map action.

That sounds promising and very good.
Also, I've never tried before so, I wanted to confirm if maptools are currently available while in briefing screen?

What about a "look map" action?

Just to update, the same situation still applies.

Maybe it can be done soon with JayArmA2Lib and the new separate network layer, but obviously that would require ACE to use the lib.

Still need a network layer less prone to cause massive desync when transferring relatively huge amounts of data like the information related to map drawings.
