Description

Playing OPFOR at night can be impossible - frequently you can't even see enough to find your way out of a building. This makes it pointless to play as OPFOR at night, unless you have already captured some NVG while it was still light.

Can I suggest that you equip certain OPFOR units with NVG - e.g. Team Leaders and/or Warlords? You don't want too many to be equipped, just one or two in each objective should be sufficient to make it worthwhile.

Thanks

In my fork, I have added campfires in the towns and some small ammo boxes that contain flares and a few ak-74 GLs. I don't know if NVGs are realistic for Takibans but I'd rather go without.

Working on implementing a script that allows AI to fire flares when opfor detected.

Any more opinions about it? I think it's also quite unrealistic, but gameplay is also important. I like the idea with the flares, it's a prime candidate for a FSM - I think i could do that.

I quite like the idea of using illumination flares, but it would be necessary to script things such that AI with GL actually launch lumes when they detect BLUFOR.

this could be supplemented by trip lumes scattered around the perimeter of cache locations and search lights on rooftops.

Whilst it is unlikely that all OPFOR units IRL would have NVG, it is equally unlikely that they would be operating in absolute darkness where you can't see a wall in front of your face without some form of illumination - even a torch or chem light would he an improvement for basic infantry.

I think it is also reasonable to consider human controlled OPFOR as specially trained guerillas. As such, they would be inclined to steal and stockpile BLUFOR assets whenever the opportunity presents, including NVG and ordinance. For this reason, I think it is fair to give Team Leaders and/or Warlords NVG of some type.

Another alternative:

Keeping in line with my comment about captured assets etc, it would be appropriate to put a BLUFOR ammo box with each cache. There must be sufficient ambient light in the location to make it feasible, and the cache locations would need to be marked exactly for OPFOR players (which I think is a good idea anyway - but only when OPFOR have spawned around it to protect against detectors going to BLUFOR with all the locations!)
