Description

Neither the M67 grenade nor the RGO grenade do explode when thrown directly to the ground.
Both grenades lay on the ground and vanish after some seconds without an explosion.

They work as intended when thrown at a greater distance.

Tested in Singleplayer and MP (local host).

Can confirm it, also sometimes they do not explode when thrown at a vehicle.

I'm wondering if this is meant as a noob-protection device, rather than a bug, since Arma has always been very haphazard for throwing grenades. I noticed they added the realistic self-arming of UGL grenades, which is great and wondered if they had just put in a "explosives cannot explode if they'd damage their firer" system in rather than specifically fixed UGL grenades.

There's a config entry called "fuseDistance = 5;". I guess you have to throw it further than 5 meters for the grenade to activate timer/fuse and go boom.

However the M67 should explode always when pin pulled. The RGO has a fail safe system, it explodes after some time even if the impact fuse has not triggered.

  • Due date set to 10/02/2009
  • Status changed from New to Assigned
  • Affected ArmA II version changed from 1.01.57751 to 1.02.58134

  • Category set to Config
  • Affected ArmA II version changed from 1.02.58134 to 1.03.58627

Now grenades hilariously bounce 20m or more away from you, so dropping them at your feet is fixed at least.

It is not bug, but a feature. To prevent AI killing self, we set fuse distance for several ammo types.

This still occurs in later versions, bad luck to the AI, I want the grenades I throw down 'stairs' to explode. I did it for a reason.

I wish if they taught AI to throw it correctly instead of this pity workaround /should have fuseDistanceAI at least/

Can we make fuse for AI and disable it for player?

Is this fuse-distance Editable/Modable via Configs? So at least the Killer-Mods can be able to change that?
Fuse-Distance is very realistic btw, almost every fired explosive weapons in RL have this security measure implemented - but no Hand-Grenades :-)

mr.g-c you better do your homework first.
10 seconds search in configs..

1 fuseDistance

Even rocko mentioned it above in this very ticket..
