Description

Perhaps only after putting it on a stand?
CSW-like perhaps?

To add to this, as per my original post

"To further this, perhaps making it so that there is the ability to set up a soflam as per spotting scope, with downsides for those that don't and use it like binos (perhaps more sight sway or something)"

One option could be to set it up as per a crew served weapon, with one stand that allows multiple sighting devices (without it requiring a whole secondary weapon slot)

Another would be to make the extra devices (eg. Dagr style GPS readout, Thermal vision capacity) add on-able in a similar fashion, although I imagine the hassle of having to model these extras would be a bit much for a fairly sideline feature

Of course, that could be extended to adding sights to other CSW's, but I imagine the outlay in assets needed for this would be a similar effort to adding IR/Flashlights to weapons

Having the ability to mount the SOFLAM on a tripod would open up the possibility of properly simulating the FS3 system, currently only present in ACE2 on the Stryker RV (and I don't think it works. Gonna have to test that).
The FS3 (and similar systems like the FIST mounted on the M7A3) are extremely advanced scouting and fire support systems that can be mounted on a variety of vehicles and can also be set up by infantry.

I also love the idea of finding some way to implement optics on CSWs: nowadays most armies mount optics of some sort on their HMGs and GPMGs since they are supposed to be employed on tripods and fired from afar, and while having a dedicated spotter with binocs can help, this is not always possible.

Thanks for checking it out. ;)

Until this is fully implemented or has the ability to be implemented; can you reenable NVG optics on the SOFLAM?

Can NV be enabled on this again, at least until the system you're creating is ready? Because doing CAS at night is very hard without it.

Updated by VKing about 4 years ago

NV for the SOFLAM has been enabled again for the time being.

Doing some research on this all and I came across the following:

IZLID 1000P (Laser)- http://www.bemeyers.com/index.php?option=com_product&catid=24&id=33
- Note I'm aware of the ~150m rendering for IR lasers, but something is better than nothing until BIS fixed the issue seen here http://dev-heaven.net/issues/11837. As well as my previous request at this link, it may be better served not being rejected necessarily, and related ( http://dev-heaven.net/issues/9491 )

SeeSPOT III+ (IR) - http://www.gs.flir.com/products/land/seaspotiii.cfm

Regarding night vision, from what research I did, it seems as if any sort of night vision optic/scope fits on the thing and that there isn't a specific type.

I'm just starting out modelling and would like to explore and learn while making things worthwhile; as this project is 10% done, may I ask what that 10% is referring to?

and what about to increase the irDistance = x code? because on scar is irDistance = 150 (maybe it means 150m)

Updated by SpectreRSG about 4 years ago

Well I had brought that up in my previous mentioning of it:

I have an IZLID 1000p model if anyone wants the model for it.

Here's an IZLID 1000p model. It's not very good and been sitting on my desktop. Do what ya will with it (I hope it at least helps in some way or another).

Note: it was my first model, so probably rubbish.

Thanks for contribution.
Could you please provide the same model again in either 3DS or P3D format?

The MAX file seems to be corrupted.

Again, most likely rubbish. :P
