Description

Recently i've been using the newly implemented AKMS PBS1, the 7.62 AK, that is.
What i have noticed is that it takes about the whole 30Rnd mag to shoot a US Army guy in the torso to kill him, while only 3 M9SD 9x19 rounds do the job much easier. And i wonder if you could look into the configs, because 7.62 is no .22 to make so little damage, even to those foes who are packed into interceptors or whatever.
I can upload a YouTube vid if that is needed.

btw, are you using ace wounds, vanilla, or other wounds system?

Assuming wounds here as the results match.

Subsonic 7.62mm rounds don't penetrate the armour modelled in wounds (soft armour), they would have roughly similar penetration capabilities to a 9mm pistol round due to their greatly reduced velocity. You can use supersonic rounds in a suppressed weapon or 9x39mm weapons if you want to defeat (soft) armour quietly.

Why cant the AKMS PBS1 use non-SD mags? Would solve this.

Updated by TemichSablin almost 5 years ago

Oh, my bad, forgot to mention it earlier, yea, ACE Wound System.
Well, then i guess i'll just go check if the gun can use normal rounds and how effective it will be.
Also, even with subsonic rounds bots react to a gunshot 100m away from them. Determined by that "Bots Speaking" module.

The reaction to fired bullets should be no measure for AI reaction; #14988

Just a wild guess; PBS1 only supports subsonic rounds.
The solution should be in head-shots re subsonic im guessing.

By Q1184;

PBS-1 does not tolerate supersonic bullets, they'll actually destroy it.

Hm, the FiredNear EH has a max trigger distance of ~69 meters... :)

Updated 7.62x39 SD bullet mass (12.55 g as opposed to 7.9 g inherited from standard ball ammo). It might improve its performance.

Good spot, should give it performance similar to 9x39mm (which just about manages to penetrate armour)

Ha, well, mistaken a little :D
Aw right, never mind it then, i guess such distance is ok

Hmm.. might be useful:

PBS-1 was created for subsonic ammo (SU), which is not allowed for legal trade, and it has almost no effect on normal supersonic (ZV) ammunition, > plus it was not designed for such extreme duty. On the other hand PSUZV is designed specially for supersonic ammo, and made not for soundless
fire, but for damping the discharge sound. Another thing that is worth mentioning is PMS (Low Noise Shooting Device) and TGP-A (Tactical Silencer Fire Arrester - for Automatic Rifles).

Would be great to implement something like that, since there are no decent silenced AK's yet.

What does the "ace_hit = 5;" string in the 762x39SD config mean? Does it override the vanilla value or somehow blends with it?

In this case at 0 m, forgot to update the documentation (a new parameter ace_hit_distance has been introduced recently). At any rate, nothing to do with performance against humans.

Could have found it. Sorry for stupid question.
